Who is platform root?
Platform root accounts are MadeLab operators, not shop staff:
Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
Access | Special platform-admin flag on the user account |
Shop membership | Not tied to a single print shop |
Powers | Full platform tools — not limited by shop roles |
Accounts | Cannot be deleted, deactivated, or have roles changed in the Users UI |
You only use platform tools while signed in as root and not using Switch As. While impersonating a shop user, root-only sidebar items and Platform → Tenants tools are hidden.
Platform workspace
Shown as | Platform on Platform → Tenants |
Role | Template / sample workspace for trials and documentation |
Billing | Not a normal paying shop |
Suspend | Cannot be suspended |
Signup | New shops get a fresh template — they are not copies of this workspace |
How shops get created
Public signup only (Pricing → Sign up → Setup). There is no “Create tenant” button on Platform → Tenants.
Operators assign plans, suspend/reactivate, and support shops after signup.
Platform routes vs shop tools
Kind | Examples | Who |
|---|---|---|
Root-only | Overview, Tenants, Plans, Integrations, Database, Feedback, UI catalog | Platform root |
Shared platform tools | Reports, Backup, Email templates, Email logs, Support/Help | Shops (by plan and permissions) and root; still usable while Switch As |
If Tenants / Plans disappear from the sidebar, exit Switch As first.
Sidebar highlights (root)
Typical Platform / Admin items (exact labels may vary slightly):
Platform → Overview, Tenants, Subscription plans, Integrations, Feedback, Company/Member directories, UI catalog
Admin → Roles, Database Migrations, Cron, System logs
Support → Knowgle (articles / categories / tags)
These require a platform root session (hidden during Switch As).
Prefer Switch As and plan assignment over editing live customer data unless support asks.
